- The raw wooden surface to be coated should be clean, dry, free from moisure, dampness and other contaminants.
- For hard wood, sand the surface with sandpaper #80, followed by sandpaper #120, #150, #180 and #220.
- For veneer ply surfaces, start with sandpaper #220.
- Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
- Mix the base thoroughly prior to mixing with the hardener
- Avoid applying in direct sunlight or when the humidity is very high
- Apply 2 to 3 coats of FRESHWOOD Exterior Sealer clear with an interval of 12 hrs between subsequent coats. Sanding should be done prior to the application of each coat. The number of coats varies depending on the absorption of wood
- #220 sandpaper can be used for the first coat and #400 sandpaper can be used for the second and third coats
- Apply 2 coats of either FRESHWOOD Exterior Glossy Clear or Matt Clear depending on the requirement, with an interval of 12 hrs between subsequent coats. Sanding after the 1st coat of top coat needs to done with #600 or #1000 sandpaper
- MRF Woodstains Exterior shades can be used to enhance the colour of the wood grain. The available shades can be used over either the first coat or the second coat of sealer clear.
- Sanding of the applied shade is not permitted
- For exterior applications use Woodstains exterior shades only

About FreshWood Exterior
FreshWood Exterior is MRF Paints’ two-pack aliphatic polyurethane clear finish for outdoor wood. It is 100% PU, keeps the wood grain visible and gives water, scratch and UV resistance, in glossy or matt.

FAQs
How do I apply FreshWood Exterior?
Make sure the wood is clean, dry and free from moisture. For hardwood, sand with #80, then #120, #150, #180 and #220; for veneer ply, start at #220. Always sand along the grain. Apply 2-3 coats of FreshWood Exterior Sealer Clear, 12 hours apart, sanding before each coat (#220 first, then #400). Finish with 2 coats of Glossy or Matt Clear, 12 hours apart, sanding the first with #600.
Is FreshWood Exterior UV resistant?
Yes. It is an aliphatic polyurethane finish made for outdoor wood, with better UV resistance and water resistance.
Can I use wood stain under it?
Yes, but only MRF Woodstains Exterior shades, over the first or second coat of Sealer Clear. Other Woodstains shades are meant for interiors. Do not sand the stain.
How much does one litre cover?
About 75-80 sq ft per litre per coat, according to the MRF data sheet, depending on the wood and the application method.
