- Ensure the surface is clean and free from dampness, dirt, and other contamination.
- For areas severely affected by algae and fungi, ensure the surface is completely cleaned with bio-wash before initiating the painting process.
- Sand the surface using sandpaper #180 and clean thoroughly. Ensure that no loose particles are sticking to the wall.
- Freshly plastered surfaces must be allowed to cure completely. The coating process can be started after a minimum period of 30 days.
- Apply 2 coats of Aquafresh Exterior Wall Finish, leaving 4-5 hours between each coat.
- Before applying the second topcoat, sand the second coat of primer with sandpaper #320.
- Sand the topcoat with sandpaper #600.
- The number of topcoat coats depends on the colour chosen. Darker shades may need additional coats.

About AquaFresh Exterior
AquaFresh Exterior is MRF Paints’ premium water-based polyurethane (PUD) emulsion for exterior walls. It resists algae and fungi, has low dirt pickup and gives a durable finish that stands up to sun and rain. It is GreenPro certified and low in odour.
It is available in 1,015 Nebula shades and carries an 8-year performance warranty when the purchase is registered and the paint is applied as per the data sheet.
Where to use it
- Exterior walls of homes and buildings, including homes in rainy and humid areas
- Repainting weathered or algae-stained exterior walls (after cleaning with a bio-wash)

FAQs
Which primer should I use with AquaFresh Exterior?
MRF recommends 1-2 coats of AquaFresh PU Wall Primer, 4-5 hours apart. Sand the second primer coat with sandpaper #320 before the topcoat.
How many coats of AquaFresh Exterior do I need?
Two coats, 4-5 hours apart. Darker shades may need an extra coat.
How much area does one litre of AquaFresh Exterior cover?
About 65-75 sq ft per litre for two coats, according to the MRF data sheet. Actual coverage depends on the surface, its absorption and the application method.
Can I paint a new wall with AquaFresh Exterior straight away?
No. Fresh plaster must cure for at least 30 days before painting. See how long to wait after plastering.
What conditions are best for applying it?
Apply between 20 and 40 degrees C, with humidity below 75%, on a clean, dry wall. Walls badly affected by algae or fungi should be cleaned with a bio-wash first.
