FAQs
How do I apply WoodCoat Italia?
Make sure the wood is clean, dry and free from moisture. For hardwood, sand with #80, then #120, #150, #180 and #220; for veneer ply, start at #220. Always sand along the grain. Apply one coat of MRF Epoxy Isolant Sealant. Then apply 2-3 coats of WoodCoat Italia Sealer Clear (or Filler White for a white finish), 2-3 hours apart, sanding before each coat (#220 first, then #400). Finish with 2 coats of High Gloss or Matt, Clear or White, 5 hours apart, sanding the first with #600.
Can I get a white finish on wood?
Yes. WoodCoat Italia comes in High Gloss White and Matt White, applied over Filler White. The clear finishes keep the wood grain visible.
Which thinner should I use?
Thinner for Finish (TFF): 40-45% for Sealer Clear, 25-30% for Filler White, 30-35% for High Gloss White, 15-20% for High Gloss Clear and Matt White, and 20-25% for Matt Clear.
Can I use another sealer under it?
No. Use it only over WoodCoat Italia Sealer Clear or Filler White. Other sealers such as NC or melamine should be avoided, as the system will not perform as intended.
Is WoodCoat Italia suitable for outdoor wood?
It is an interior finish. For exterior wood, see WoodCoat Exterior or FreshWood Exterior.
Where can I buy it?
Through authorised MRF Paints dealers. Use the MRF Paints dealer locator.
